Sedation Dentistry

We understand that some children experience dental anxiety or may have difficulty cooperating during dental procedures. At Hi5 Dental, we offer safe and effective sedation options and can assist families in ensuring their children have the oral care they need in a comfortable environment free of emotional or psychological trauma.

    • Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)

This mild sedative helps your child relax and feel more at ease during their treatment. It wears off quickly, allowing your child to return to normal activities soon after their appointment.

    • General Anesthesia

For more complex procedures or for children with significant anxiety, general anesthesia may be recommended. This allows your child to be completely asleep during their treatment, ensuring a comfortable and anxiety-free experience. We offer both in-office and hospital general anesthesia options.

    • In-Office General Anesthesia

We partner with experienced anesthesiologists who come to our office to provide general anesthesia for eligible patients. This option is convenient for many families and allows your child to receive treatment in a familiar environment.

    • Hospital General Anesthesia

For children with certain medical conditions or those requiring more complex procedures, we may recommend general anesthesia in a hospital setting. This ensures access to advanced medical facilities and specialized care if needed.

  • Before your child's sedation appointment, we'll discuss their medical history and anxiety levels to determine the most appropriate sedation option. We'll also provide detailed instructions on how to prepare your child for their appointment, including any fasting requirements.

During the appointment, our experienced team will carefully monitor your child's vital signs and comfort level throughout the sedation process. The anesthesiologist will be constantly monitoring their progress throughout the dental appointment, making any corrections or handling any concerns that may arise.

We'll use age-appropriate techniques to help your child relax and feel safe.

After the procedure, we'll continue to monitor your child as they recover from the sedation. We'll provide you with post-operative instructions and schedule any necessary follow-up appointments.

Note: These appointments are generally 1 to 2 hours in length, and will require several consultative appointments to coordinate insurance plan benefits, financial arrangements, and health histories.
